St. Anthony's School takes great pride in the excellent scores that students consistently obtain on national achievement tests. Historically students who attended St. Anthony's maintain a high academic level and a large percentage are in the top 15% of their high school graduating class.

Reading Programs

Texas Treasures

Macmillan/McGraw-Hill's comprehensive reading and language arts program, Texas Treasures, offers proven tools and strategies for helping teachers give students what they need to succed. High-quality literature, coupled with explicit instruction and ample practice, insures all students have what they need to learn and grow as lifelong readers and writers.
New in 2010.

 

Students in kindergarten through sixth grade participate in the Accelerated Reading program. Points are earned for reading and testing on student selected books. Recogniton is given to students weekly, at the end of each six weeks, and at the end of the year. Progress is noted on a hall display in the main building.

Team Teaching

Fourth through Sixth grade classes are involved in Team Teaching. Subjects are taught by the teacher with the highest skills in each area, giving the student the best possible learning environment reqardless of the field of study.

Testing

The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is given yearly. The test results are used to determine academic strengths and weaknesses and allows the teacher to make adjustments to the curriculum and to address the needs of the students.
